Our journey as hoteliers has given us a new mission: we aim to give nature a holiday. La Siesta Hoi An Resort & spa wishes to create a clean and sustainable resort where you could relax in the knowledge that we are trying our best to protect our environment - Small changes can make a big difference.

Sustainability Policy/Statement

At La Siesta Hoi An Resort, we believe that true hospitality extends beyond exceptional service—it includes a wholehearted commitment to the environment, our team, our guests, and the communities we are part of. Guided by strong values and ethical principles, we pledge to make a positive impact through the following actions:

Environmental Stewardship

We recognize the urgent need to address climate change and are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. Through energy-saving practices, responsible sourcing, and waste reduction initiatives, we strive to minimize our environmental footprint. We continuously seek innovative ways to conserve energy and water, reduce single-use plastics, and promote sustainability across our operations. Our 5-year environmental goals (2025–2030):

  • Reduce energy consumption per guest night by at least 5%
  • Reduce water consumption per guest night by at least 5%
  • Eliminate at least 50% of single-use plastic items used on-site
  • Reduce total waste sent to landfill by at least 30%
  • Lower carbon emissions per guest night by at least 5%

Protecting and Supporting Biodiversity

We are committed to protecting the natural ecosystems that surround us. Each year, we actively support at least one local conservation initiative and strive to reduce environmental disruption, and educate our guests and staff about the importance of biodiversity. Our landscaping and procurement practices prioritize native species and environmentally-friendly products.

Fair and Respectful Employment Practices

Our people are the heart of our hotel. We are dedicated to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace where all employees are treated fairly and supported in their professional growth. In line with our Human Resources manual, we promote non-discrimination, equal opportunity, and fair labor practices. We believe in open communication, continuous learning, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Respecting Human Rights

We uphold and respect the fundamental rights of all individuals. Our commitment extends to protecting the rights of minorities, women, children, and other vulnerable groups. We ensure that our policies and practices are aligned with international human rights standards and are integrated into our daily operations, decision-making, and supply chain.

Community Engagement and Responsibility

As a proud member of the local community, we are committed to making a positive and lasting impact. We prioritize hiring locally, supporting local businesses, and building partnerships that advance social and environmental well-being. Each year, we dedicate at least $2,000 to support community initiatives—such as school improvement projects—that contribute to local development. We also encourage our guests to engage with the local culture and economy in respectful and sustainable ways. If you would like to donate to our community projects, you will find more information about what we are working on and a donation box on the reception desk.

Child Protection and Safeguarding

The safety and well-being of children are of utmost importance. We have a strict zero-tolerance policy against all forms of child exploitation and abuse. All staff members are trained to recognize and report any suspicious behavior or concerns involving children. We work closely with local authorities and child protection organizations to ensure that our hotel remains a safe space for all.

Together, we are building a hospitality experience that respects people, protects the planet, and supports communities.

Closeness to Nature

Thanks to our team of dedicated architects and designers, we were able to build a resort that allows us to make great strides in sustainability, something that lies in our core values. Our mission has encouraged us to use as many natural and renewable materials as possible in the construction of La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa such as bamboo, wood, palm leaves and bricks.

We make sure to compliment the beauty of nature with its own sweeping landscape, with 70% of the resort’s land dedicated to plants and greenery.

The greenery system at La Siesta not only creates fresh air and enchanting natural landscapes, it also acts as a natural sound barrier against the bustling of the city and provides natural cooling effects against the hot tropical weather.

Environmental Protection

At La Siesta Hoi An, we care about the environment. That’s why one of our top priorities is to improve the ecological and carbon footprint of the resort operation. Reflecting a love of nature and increasing our efforts in making the world a better place, we are on the journey to reduce energy, water, and waste, and improve our impact on the environment.

Our goal is to become plastic-free with the help of renewable and recyclable products in the future. In addition, we are trying to reduce the use of single-use plastic materials by replacing plastic bottles for shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel with ceramic containers.

To further diminish the threats to our environment, we have introduced toothbrushes, combs, and razors wrapped in soft recyclable paper packages.
We wish to deliver cold beverages to you while staying environmentally friendly – we use acrylic, and stainless steel straws. These substitutes of plastic straws are completely recyclable and can be reused after thorough cleaning.

Our guests enjoy drinking water which is bottled in reusable glass bottles. This saves around 120 000 plastic bottles per year from the resort and to the landfill.

Garden re-invention. Falling leaves are turned into homemade compost and re-introduced back into the rich soil as natural fertilisers for our beautiful gardens.

Cultural Preservation

Our commitment to keeping alive the fabulous traditions of Hoi An are evidenced in our construction. Wooden columns, yellow walls and the yin and yang roof tiles architecture is matched in beauty with amenities made of stone. Décor celebrating local culture, all sourced from local artisans in a bid to support these ancient trades and craftsmen. The restaurant also champions delectable Hoi An cuisine with a huge selection of regional delicacies.

All the paintings, photos exhibited within the hotel are created by local artists all across Vietnam. Life, traditions and sceneries of Hoi An are brought to life by these local artists.

Responsible Tourism

Many of our staff were born and raised in Hoi An, and we cherish our community by providing jobs to locals as well as people from all over Vietnam.

To raise funds for the Go Green Foundation, which supports worthwhile projects such as planting trees, helping endangered animals and so on, our team sells old/used clothes and second hand goods online and at flea markets. Everyone is welcome to contribute goods for sale and hotel guests can also donate items they no longer need – or even help out on the flea market stall!
